Acai Smoothie Bowl Recipe

They are blowing up Instagram like crazy, these beautifully thought out smoothie bowls with what seems to be like art made of fruit decorating the top. It’s no wonder they are such a hit, plus they’re packed with really great food to get your day started whether it’s a ton of mixed berries, leafy greens or bright citrus fruits!

But how do you actually make a smoothie bowl? If you’re like me, half the time you make a smoothie it probably tastes a little… well, not totally right. What do you put in a smoothie bowl? How does that awesome beautiful fruit stay on the surface without sinking?

Here’s exactly how to make a smoothie bowl in the comfort of your own home…

First off – for all of the smoothie bowl recipes out there, the biggest trick is that you want it to be extra thick, so you need to use less liquid so that you’re able to eat it perfectly fine with a spoon!

Acai Smoothie Bowl

Acai became extremely popular in the last few years because of its label as one of the top “super foods” in the world. This small berry is from Brazil and South America, and is chalk full of nutrients and antioxidants! Here are the ingredients that you need for this recipe:

  • 2 packets of unsweetened frozen acai
  • 1 cup of frozen mixed berries
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup of cashew milk (or soy, or almond)
  • 2 tbsp of almond butter
  • Optional: 1 scoop of protein or any other supplements you use


Often times these are a personal preference, but here are some examples:

  • Bee pollen
  • Chia seeds
  • Coconut flakes
  • Mixed berries
  • Hemp seeds
  • Cacao nibs


Blend all together! Pour into bowl, top with toppings and enjoy!
