This is not a secret – sleeping naked feels pretty darn good. No clothing getting wrapped up in the sheets, it doesn’t wake you up, and your own body heat keeping you warm under a big cozy blanket. But did you know there are actual health benefits to sleeping naked? Check this out! We’re sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

You’ll Sleep Better

When we’re too bundled up in too many clothes or too many blankets, it can actually hinder our sleep! We not only fall asleep better when the temperature is cool (think about how nice you sleep when you have air conditioning in your place during the hot summer), but we fall into a deeper sleep when the temperature is cooler. Studies have reported that the optimal temperature is between 60 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit – so if you sleep with it warmer it can lead to restlessness or even insomnia!

It Can Help You Lose Weight

On nights where we don’t sleep well, our cortisol levels increase, causing us to easily gain weight in our midsection. Higher cortisol levels also trigger our brain to make us think we’re more hungry than we actually are. Clearly, this is not so good for the waistline! At night when our bodies cool off, our cortisol levels also go down! Sleeping naked not only gives us a better sleep (see above) but reduces the amount of cortisol in our bodies too.

It’s Healthy For Your Privates

It doesn’t matter who you are – regardless of gender, sleeping without clothes let’s your private’s breath and air out. When they’ve been inside clothing all day long, sleeping without clothes let’s blood flow easier and it can give your body a break from any bacteria hanging around that area from your clothing as well.

Anti-Aging Properties

When our bodies aren’t overheating from the clothes we wear to bed, the amount of melatonin in our system increases! Melatonin is something that helps us sleep (or can help us sleep better if we take it as a supplement), and when our bodies have it, it can help keep the fine lines we have at bay, resulting in a more youthful appearance! We cannot argue with that.

Increased Love Life

Studies have shown that people who sleep naked have a happier love life! 57% of people who sleep naked are happy with their love lives, while only 48% of pajama wearers were happy with theirs. Skin-to-skin contact creates a huge level of intimacy between two people, so if you have someone you love sleeping in bed with you, this is a sure fire way of getting things warm under the sheets… ya know? 🙂
